Spicy tomato and fish kebabs

Cut small fish into chunks, bones and all, and thread onto kebab skewers. Serve with a herby avo salsa.

Ingredients (13)

800 g hake — cleaned, cut into chunks
300 g baby tomatoes
15 ml brown sugar
30 ml honey
30 ml fresh chillies — 573
5 ml chillies — powder
5 ml cumin — ground
2 ml salt
5 ml paprika
10 g fresh basil
1 avocado — diced
1 red onion — chopped
15 ml lemon juice

Method:

1.  Pat the fish dry with paper towels and arrange in a dish for marinating.

2. Rub Mix the ingredients well and pour over the fish. Mix well so the fish is completely coated. Cover and marinate for  30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.

3. Thread the fish onto kebab skewers, alternating with the tomatoes. Braai over hot coals for 10 minutes or until done and slightly charred.

4. To serve Sprinkle coarse salt and paprika over (if using) and serve with avo salsa.

AVO SALSA

Lightly mix 10 g fresh basil, 1 diced avocado, 1 chopped small red onion and 15 ml (1 T) lemon juice.

Season with salt and serve with the fish  kebabs.
