Method:

To make the broodjies, spread out the bread slices, making sure each one has a partner, and brush with melted butter.

Add the banana in a layer and evenly sprinkle over the grated chocolate followed by the chopped chocolate.

Pop the tops on the sarmies then brush both sides with butter and wrap them individually in foil.

To make the cream, whip the cream in a large bowl until peaks begin to form.

Fold in the vanilla, cinnamon and maple syrup and whisk until stiff peaks form.

Put the broodjies on the grid over medium heat coals for about 5 mins a side in the foil.

This will melt all the goodness together inside the broodjie.

Then take the broodjies out the foil, arrange them in a flip grid and braai until golden brown.

Serve with whipped cream and chocolate ganache and try not to eat them all before you share with your mates.

Beer Pairing: Milk Stout — plenty of roasted malts to stand up to the bitter-sweet flavours and complement the sweet cream, while still allowing this braaied dessert to be the hero.
